Hungry Lions, Upington City All In for Surprise!
Two clubs have reportedly set their sights on former Cape Town Spurs star, Amethyst Bradley “Surprise” Ralani.
Back in April, Spurs released Ralani from his contract ahead of the 2024/25 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, thus leaving him a free agent.
According to reports, Hungry Lions FC and Upington City – both of whom compete in the Motsepe Foundation Championship league – are keen on signing the 37-year-old playmaker.
In a recent interview with a local soccer outlet, Lions coach Henry Basie confirmed that discussions with Ralani are ongoing.
“Yes, we are still talking to the player, we are still negotiating,” said Basie. “He doesn’t need assessment since we already know him, but as you know, finances are always a problem in our league. We should be finishing the talks by Friday [18 October] at the latest.”
Upington City have yet to publicly comment on their interest in Ralani, although Basie is confident that they are indeed in discussions with the PSL veteran, whom he believes would be a valuable addition to the league.
“The boy is talented, and you can imagine what he can bring to our team. And currently, we don’t have enough experienced players,” he declared.
